Koo App Drives #NenjeYezhu Campaign to Bring Relief to the People of Tamil Nadu During the Floods

The App is working towards seamlessly connecting relief seekers with relief providers

Chennai, November 12, 2021:

India’s multi-language micro-blogging platform Koo has launched an exclusive campaign – #NenjeYezhu – to support the ongoing relief and rescue efforts during the floods in Chennai and other districts of Tamil Nadu. In this time of crisis, the India-first platform is connecting people in need of help with those leading relief operations across the state, and providing regular updates on weather alerts, emergency requirements, helpline contacts and safety measures.

To proliferate information pertaining to relief efforts, Koo App has created a Tamil community to assist people, especially those unable to leave their homes owing to the floods. Additionally, the App has collaborated with NGOs and voluntary organizations like ‘Born to Help’ and ‘Uthavidathaan Piranthom’ that have shared their emergency and helpline numbers for priority relief assistance. Amidst this campaign, users on the platform are gathering live weather updates and insights from popular weather blogger Pradeep John (@Tamilnaduweatherman), who recently joined Koo.

To help people tide over the situation with minimal loss to property and life, Koo App – as part of the #NenjeYezhu campaign – hosted an online session where participants shared experiences from the current situation and key measures to safeguard health and hygiene; and secure crucial belongings such as documents and electronic gadgets.

Earlier this year, during the second wave of Covid-19 in the country, the Koo App had introduced a ‘Covid Warrior’ section on the platform, which listed profiles of those lending a helping hand, and connected them with relief seekers. A tab in the app – ‘Covid’, shared information on bed and oxygen availability, vaccinations and other resources for the benefit of people.
