Tennis Icon Somdev Devvarman Inspires at Unified Special Carnival 2025 : Celebrating Inclusivity for Special Children
The Madras West Round Table 10 (MWRT10) once again brought joy, inclusion, and celebration to over 1000 special children from across Chennai at the ICF Indoor Stadium through the much-awaited Unified Special Carnival 2025. In its 29th glorious year since inception in 1996, this landmark event was elevated with the inspiring presence of Somdev Devvarman, India’s tennis icon and a passionate advocate for youth and sports.
Somdev Devvarman, known for his grit and determination on the international tennis circuit, inaugurated the festivities to resounding cheers. His presence underscored the Carnival’s core message of empowerment through inclusivity, echoing MWRT10’s larger mission of “Service Through Fellowship.” The vibrant atmosphere at the ICF Indoor Stadium—with its accessibility and space—set the perfect backdrop for a day packed with carnival games, music, food stalls, and adapted football matches designed for the children.
MWRT10, a chapter of Round Table India with a strong legacy of service, continues to transform lives through impactful projects like ‘Freedom Through Education’ and healthcare outreach, including Phase II of the Dialysis Centre in Porur. These initiatives serve underprivileged children and patients, with the Unified Special Carnival being a shining example of their commitment to holistic and inclusive community engagement.
Speaking about the significance of the event, newly appointed Chairman Tr. Akul said, “Unified Special Carnival is not just an event, it’s a movement that bridges hearts. Having a youth icon like Somdev Devvarman with us today sends a powerful message of acceptance and inclusion.”
Vice Chairman Tr. Varun Reddy added, “This event is the culmination of months of hard work and collaboration. It showcases what’s possible when spirited young individuals unite for a cause larger than themselves.”
From Secretary Tr. Laviesh, event convenors Tr. Anirudh and Tr. Sunil, to countless others like Tr. Dushyant, Tr. Kunal, and National Connect Convener Tr. Vikash Nahar, the effort behind the scenes reflected true teamwork and purpose.
As the day unfolded with smiles, high-fives, and heartfelt moments, the Unified Special Carnival 2025 stood tall as a celebration of unity, compassion, and the belief that every child deserves joy, dignity, and inclusion. The event continues to cement MWRT10’s legacy as a changemaker in Chennai’s social landscape.
