THEIR ROYAL HIGHNESSES THE CROWN PRINCE AND CROWN PRINCESS PRESIDE OVER A HIGH LEVEL DELEGATION UNDER THE GREEN STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP WITH INDIA
Partners for Green and Sustainable Progress, the Danish delegation hosts a series of energy and water track meetings with Indian government and industry.
Chennai, Embassy of Denmark, India: Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark paid an official visit to Chennai on 1st March to take forward the Green Strategic Partnership with India. The Government of Denmark commenced a multi-layered strategic program to not just strengthen the trade ties between the two countries in the energy and water sectors, but also promote green and sustainable progress in India.
Packed in a series of diplomatic meetings the Green Strategic Partnership Initiative flagged off on 1st March in Chennai. Gracing India with their official visit from February 26 onwards at New Delhi, the Their Royal Highnesses proceeded with Chennai episode who were accompanied by a high-level delegation of Danish ministers and senior cadre of bureaucracy. During the visit, the Danish delegation highlighted solutions, technological innovations, and the latest know-how on energy and water that will help India become carbon neutral. The top cadre ministers of Tamil Nadu paid a visit to the IIT Madras Research Park where a series of sessions were held.
On the energy front, Denmark is a world leader in the green transition and has abundance to offer with regard to wind energy, green hydrogen, and bioenergy and energy efficiency at a cost-effective green energy transition. Denmark and India will also develop offshore wind strategy, as India is already the world’s fourth-largest onshore wind market by cumulative installed capacity.
Moreover, Danish companies offer the key technologies and solutions needed to achieve the Indian government’s priority of bringing safe and reliable drinking water to each household. Groundwater mapping and other specialized Danish solutions can support India in improving the sustainability of its groundwater as a source for water supply. The visit will also help in wastewater treatment, where Denmark has shown that wastewater can become an important resource with the right technology and approach.
A symbolic ceremony proceeded with the announcement and signing of Danish projects in Tamil Nadu. The delegation also embarked on a factory visit of Vesta and a campus tour of Danfoss Production Facility. Key sessions under the energy track included talks on energy production supply chain and the use of renewable energy.
Moreover, Tamil Nadu Government’s Water Resources Department gave a presentation offering a perspective on current and future water challenges in India with a focus on Tamil Nadu.
The visit by Crown Prince and Princess of Denmark indeed went a long way in strengthening the ties between the two great nations and set a new milestone for a greener and sustainable future.
