Liter of Lights – An initiative by students of SRMIST

The students of SRMIST have proven that they care about assisting the communities around them for a better tomorrow. In a bid to do the same, the students of SRMIST under the banner of AARUUSH’18 had carried out the “Liter of Lights” – a community service/outreach program that initially involved the lighting up of rural areas around Guduvanchery, namely Valluvar colony and Kamarajapuram of the 8th & 9th wards respectively.

Positively committed to bringing clean and affordable energy to the common man in the rural sectors, the students hearing the plea that most houses there barely survive with 4-6 hours of electricity, gifted 15 of the households with solar powered lamps that could be charged and used for nighttime lighting.

The Aaruush team was also astonished by the degenerative basic living conditions and the amount of optimism they could find amid its denizens. After addressing their present issues, SRMIST’s AARUUSH team vows to make this world a better place to live by taking one step at a time.
